A type of organic color pigment used in printing inks. Para Reds vary in shade from yellow to blue, and possess moderate to good tinctorial strength, but with a dull tone. They also possess high lightfastness, but when diluted become less fast to light. They are also resistant to acids and alkalis, but not to soaps, oils, and solvents. They had once been widely used in poster and label inks, but their tendency to bleed has caused their growing disuse. (See Organic Color Pigments.)
