Pass

A processing run through a computer to accomplish a specific result, as an editing pass or a sorting pass. More than one pass may be required for a final result.

A complete set of procedures used to produce a galley output. In computerized typesetting, a job may require more than one pass, each pass consisting of input (the first pass) or editing, data assembly, typesetter output, proofreading, and possibly other stages.
