Patch

In electronics and wiring, a temporary electrical connection.

In audio-video equipment, the term patch means to connect an audio or video device to another by means of cables or through a central panel.

In computer programming, the term patch refers to a series of codes added to a program to modify or fix it in some way without performing a major rewrite. When used as a verb, patch means to add such a set of codes.
