Plate Scanner

A device used in offset lithography to measure the various densities of the printing plate's image areas prior to mounting the plate on the press. The evaluation of image densities allows for an accurate presetting of ink fountain keys, which varies the thickness of the ink film sent to the plate across the width of the plate, so that image areas that require greater amounts of ink receive it, while areas that require lesser amounts are not adversely affected, and vice versa.
