Any RIP (raster image processor) that can read and interpret PostScript files, but which has been manufactured without the authorization or license from Adobe Systems, the creator of and license-holder for PostScript. PostScript clones typically generate images which are virtually identical to those generated by a true PostScript output device. PostScript clones are also described using the term PostScript-compatible.
