Press Proof

A color proof produced using the actual ink(s) and substrate that will be used in the press run proper, as a means of evaluating how a particular set of inks performs on a particular substrate, and to ensure that the desired colors can be achieved. The printing press used may or may not be that which will be used for the actual press run, and may be a proof press.
