Proposed Deletion Policy
Proposed deletion is where participants discuss whether an article should be deleted. Articles proposed for deletion are debated for up to five days on their talk page, after which the deletion proceeds based on community consensus. Pages are then deleted, merged with other articles, or kept.
The Proposed Deletion Process
Before Nominating
-
Before nominating a page for deletion make sure you understand the PrintWiki Deletion Policy
-
Articles proposed for deletion will be tagged with the [[deletion(proposed)]] macro and discussed for five days on their associated talk page.
-
Consider adding a tag such as [[qos]], this is preferable if the page has some useful content and may just need to be clean up of bias or disputed facts.
-
Consider making the page more useful by proposing a redirect or proposing it be merged with another article.
-
Read and continue a discussion on the articles talk page.
-
Confirm that the article does not meet the criteria for Immediate Deletion
Discussing Proposed Deletion
-
The debate is not a vote. Do not add a voting tally box.
-
Make recommendations on the course of action to be taken, sustained by arguments.
-
Start your comments with a new bullet line and sign your comments using the little me button.
-
Disclose if you are the article primary author
-
New users are welcome to contribute to the discussion, but their recommendations may be discounted, especially if they seem to be made in bad faith, or seem to be sock puppets for another contributor.
-
Arguments commonly used to recommend deletion are: unverifiable; not original research; unencyclopedic; not noteworthy
-
The argument "non-neutral point of view" (violates Neutral Point of View) is often used, but often such articles can be salvaged.
After the discussion
If the discussion has been listed according to the rules above, at the end of the discussion period (five days), deliberations will be made on the comments. The article with either be deleted or the proposed deletion tag will be removed within a few days. The proposed deletion tag may be replaced with a Quality of Service tag stating the desired direction of the document.
To propose an article for deletion use the [[deletion(proposed)]] macro.
