Quire

An archaic measure of paper quantity, consisting of 24 sheets of a uniform size. One ream was originally defined as "20 quires," or 480 sheets.

In binding, a quire is a somewhat obsolete term for a group of pages that have been gathered as a prelude to binding. See Binding and Finishing.
