Reflection

The bouncing of light rays off of a surface. In optics, the law of reflection holds that the angle at which a light ray is reflected will be equal to the angle of incidence. On a matte surface, however, light is reflected diffusely, or in a variety of different directions, the result being that the color of that surface will appear lighter.
