Retouching

Any manipulation of an image—either manually, photographically, or digitally—ranging from a manual "airbrushing" out of unsightly facial blemishes on a publicity photo, to a digital insertion of Napoleon on the moon. Retouching refers to essentially any alteration in an image's appearance, and can include color correction or other rectification of image flaws, or complete changes in the design or content of an image.
