Rotoscope

A device which projects an image on the bottom of a glass plate, allowing it to be traced or redrawn. It is often used in preparing hand-cut stencils for screen printing, or many other graphic arts uses. It is also used in animation, especially when an animated sequence needs to follow the motion of an object that has been recorded on video or film. Each frame can be projected on the surface of the rotoscope, and a frame of the animaton can be traced.
