Signal Generator

A device—commonly comprising a revolving disk etched with thin lines—found inside a scanner or other imaging device that produces an electronic pulse that controls the rate at which a sample is taken of an original image. The fine lines on the disk allow the repeated passage of a light beam which, when striking a photocell, instructs the device to take a sample.
