Skid

In shipping and packaging, an alternate term for a pallet. See Pallet.

In papermaking, an informal measure of a quantity of paper, usually about 3,000 pounds, or the amount of paper that can be packed and shipped on a skid.

In printing, skid means to slide about, as one object against another. As a means of preventing the skidding of printed materials, anti-skid varnish is often used.
