Special Interest Group for Computer Graphics

(SIGGRAPH) Special interest group of the Association of Computing Machinery, formed in 1974. It is the premier group for research in computer graphics products and techniques. An annual national conference is sponsored by SIGGRAPH for display of the most recent product developments and presentation of state-of-the-art research in computer graphics. While this conference is now being rivaled by the NCGA conference, there is a difference in the focus of the two organizations. SIGGRAPH has grown out of academic and research/development groups and tends to be the more research oriented to the two.
