Superior

In typography, characters set in a smaller point size and positioned above the baseline, also called a superscript. Superior characters are used for exponents (such as "1013"), footnotes ("2See The GATF Encyclopedia of Graphic Communication...."), etc. They are most often numerals, but letters can be used as well. Superiors can be "manufactured" by changing to a smaller size and advancing the line spacing (if this capability is available) for positioning. See also Inferior.
