Tall Oil

A resinous byproduct of the sulfate process of paper pulp production, comprising fatty and rosin acids, used as an oil in the manufacture of printing ink vehicles. The distillation of tall oil also produces tall oil rosin. The name tall oil itself derives from the Swedish word tallolja, meaning "tall pine tree."
