Tartrazine Yellow Lake

An organic color pigment used in the manufacture of printing inks, derived from aluminum salts. Tartrazine yellow lake is certified by the Food and Drug Administration for use in food packaging (and, when used in food, is known as FD&C Yellow No. 5). It is used in metal decorating inks and lacquers for food packaging. (See also Organic Color Pigments.)
