Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry

An international organization of professionals devoted to research and technical advancement in the paper and related industries. In the United States, TAPPI has established standards and testing procedures for the manufacture of pulp and paper. TAPPI's officially-recognized test standards are known as the TAPPI Official Test Methods, while those testing procedures not considered an Official Method but of practical use for papermakers and others are described in TAPPI Useful Test Methods. Internationally, TAPPI tests and standards exist alongside standards and procedures set by the International Standards Organization. Many TAPPI tests are similar to ISO testing methods. There is at least one TAPPI Official Test or Useful Method for every paper property. (See Paper and Papermaking: Paper Properties, as well as separate entries for individual properties.)
