Wrap

In binding and finishing, to put jackets on casebound books.

In binding, wrap also refers to any signature printed separately from the rest of a book, which is wrapped around other signatures prior to binding. Examples of materials prepared in this way are maps or color plates printed on special paper.

In packaging, wrap also refers to the encasing of materials in kraft paper, plastic sheets, etc., for protection during shipping.

In web-fed gravure printing, wrap refers to the degree of the arc of contact the web has with the impression roller, or the angle formed by the web before it enters and after it leaves the impression zone. Also known as wrap angle. See Impression Roller.
