Etch

Alternate term for fountain concentrate, the undiluted chemicals used in an offset press fountain solution. See Fountain Concentrate and Fountain Solution.

In gravure printing, etch refers to the act of engraving—either chemically or electromechanically—cells onto the surface of the image-carrying gravure cylinder. See Gravure Engraving.
