Hydrophobic

A quality of certain papers, components of paper, or the image areas of lithographic plates that causes them to repel water. Hydrophobic substances are likely to be receptive to oils and oil-based inks. Hydrophobic substances are also called oleophilic or lipophilic. (See also Hydrophilic.)
