Iodine Number

A measure of the speed at which a vegetable oil-based ink vehicle will dry. The higher the iodine number, the faster the ink will dry. The iodine value also can be used to determine whether an oil is a drying oil, a semi-drying oil, or a non-drying oil, an important consideration in the formulation of an ink vehicle. (See Vehicle.)
