Cylinder

A generic term for any cylindrical part of a printing press, in particular those used in the printing unit, such as a plate cylinder, blanket cylinder, impression cylinder, transfer cylinder, or gravure cylinder. A cylinder is also known as a drum.

In computing, a set of stacked tracks on a hard disk that can be accessed simultaneously without moving a read/write head. See Hard Disk.
