Hypertext Transport Protocol

On the World Wide Web (the graphics-based portion of the Internet), the protocol used to manage the means by which one hypertext document is linked to another. The term HTTP is perhaps most familiar as the first four characters of any Web address (called a Universal Ressource Locator), which is the means by which a Web browser is instructed to use HTTP to access a hypertext link.
