Lacquer

A clear or colored resin-based solution, either added to a printing ink or applied as a coating to the surface of a printed piece, that forms a thin film upon evaporation of the solvent in which it is dissolved. Lacquer is used to afford a printed piece protection, or to impart a high level of gloss to the ink or to the printed sheet as a whole.
