Caliper Shear Burst

A web burst or rupture in web offset lithography, caused by the paper unrolling into the press's rollers at uneven speeds due to inconsistencies in a paper's thickness throughout the roll. (See Caliper. See also Air Shear Burst, Cross-Machine Tension Burst, and Full Machine-Direction Burst.)
