Color Matching System

A set of color charts and/or swatches—either in printed form or as computer-generated samples—used to compare, match, and specify different colors. The color samples typically include the proportions of colored inks required to produce the desired color. Color matching systems are available for both spot color and process color. (See PANTONE, TRUMATCH, and FOCOLTONE.) Also known as a color swatching system.
